Prof. Toshio Fukuda

Prof. Toshio Fukuda, born in December 1948 in Tokyo, Japan, is a robotics expert, a Member of the Japan Academy of Engineering, a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a professor at Beijing Institute of Technology.

Toshio Fukuda graduated from Waseda University in Japan in 1971, receiving a bachelor's degree; he received a Master of Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1973; he received a Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1977; he began teaching at Tokyo University of Science in Japan in 1981; he taught in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Nagoya University in 1989; he became a professor at Beijing Institute of Technology in 2013, and was elected a Member of the Japan Academy of Engineering in the same year; he was elected a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017; he served as President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2020.

Toshio Fukuda's research primarily focuses on micro-nano manipulation robots and bionic robots.
